Golden EaglesWelcome back Golden Eagles. It has been so great to see all of you today. I was so happy to hear that lots of you were feeling excited and happy about being back at school. You have all had a great day and have already shown that you have remembered lots of the brilliant learning you did in Y1. I am looking forward to working with you for the rest of the year.

The government have proposed that Year 2 children will take a phonics screening test in Autumn 2 this year because they missed it in Year 1 due to the Coronavirus. This is subject to legislation.
Should this go ahead the children will read 40 words. 20 of these words will be real words and 20 nonsense/alien words that are made up. The words will contain most of the sounds children have learned in phonics, up to and including phase 5. The sounds are below:
Please help your child to prepare for this by revising these sounds.
The children will be screened on a past paper. More information about this will be given by the Year 2 staff on return to school.

It’s the last day of term and what a crazy year it has been! I’m sorry we didn’t get to finish the year together, but I will always remember that you were my first ever class and you’ve been amazing! You all made me smile every day and you made me really love my job!
